Stories of Hope: The #GARecovers and 988 Awareness Campaign
Welcome to this inspiring collection of personal journeys – a beacon of hope in the challenge against substance use disorders and the stigma surrounding mental health. In collaboration with Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) Office of Recovery Transformation, the Georgia Council for Recovery, WSB-TV, and various news stations across Georgia, we present "Stories of Hope," a pivotal part of the #GARecovers and 988 Awareness Campaign.
Empowering Voices, Transforming Lives
This special section of our website features heartfelt videos from 15 courageous individuals across Georgia. Each participant has bravely stepped forward to share their recovery story, offering insights into their battles with substance use disorder and their paths to healing. These narratives are not just stories - they are powerful testimonies of resilience and hope.
Vignettes and Interviews: A Glimpse into Recovery
Our campaign includes two dynamic formats:
Vignettes: 90-second vignettes produced by WSB-TV, airing from January 15 to April 15, 2024. These vignettes spotlight personal recovery stories, linking them to the #GARecovers initiative and the #988lifeline, fostering encouragement for those in need to connect with the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Interview Segments: Following the WSB-TV Noon Newscast, 2-minute interview-style segments, hosted by Condace Pressley, delve deeper into each story. These interviews highlight the importance of the 988 crisis line and play a crucial role in reducing stigma around mental health and substance use disorders.
