Downloadable Journalism Training Flyer
When journalists report on stories involving mental health or emotional distress, the words they choose can save lives. Georgia’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline journalism training was created to strengthen that responsibility—helping reporters use language that heals, not harms.
In just a few short lessons, journalists gain practical tools to cover sensitive topics with accuracy, empathy, and care. Learn how and when to include 988 in reporting, avoid reinforcing stigma, and promote help-seeking behaviors. This course, developed by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), The Carter Center, and Lexicon Strategies, builds confidence in covering these stories while protecting your own well-being through self-care strategies.
