University System of Georgia 988 Campus Awareness Quarterly Report: Fall 2024

The University System of Georgia (USG), in partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), has launched a robust campus-wide campaign to raise awareness of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. With funding support from DBHDD, the campaign aims to provide critical mental health resources and training across all 26 USG institutions.

From June to August 2024, the campaign achieved significant milestones, including the distribution of 50,000 Wallet Cards and 16,570 information stickers in prominent campus locations. Additionally, 600 faculty, staff, and students participated in 988 Awareness and mental health trainings, equipping them with knowledge on crisis intervention and suicide prevention.

The ongoing campaign focuses on enhancing mental health awareness, fostering a supportive environment, and ensuring the USG community has direct access to life-saving resources. This report details the initiative’s progress, participant feedback, and future plans to expand outreach and training efforts across the USG network.
